1867 - 1868 Ben Alva Plantation was Benjamin Franklin Flanders' residence in Youngsville, La. The name is a compilation of Ben and the first name of his father-in-law Alva Sawyer. The house, located at 408 Railroad Ave., Youngsville, La., was owned by a Flanders until 1962. Benjamin Franklin Flanders II and his family are buried in Lafayette Protestant Cemetery. Gov. Benjamin Franklin Flanders was buried in Girod Street Cemetery in New Orleans which was deconsecrated and all remains removed by 1957. The governor was removed from Girod Street Cemetery in 1900 for reburial somewhere in Metairie Cemetery.
